Hotel Rwanda (2004) is an American drama film directed by Terry George. It was adapted from a screenplay written by George and Keir Pearson. Based on real life events in Rwanda during the spring of 1994, the film stars Don Cheadle as hotelierPaul Rusesabagina, who attempts to rescue his fellow citizens from the ravages of the Rwandan Genocide. Actors Sophie Okonedo, Joaquin Phoenix, Nick Nolte and Jean Reno also appear in principal roles. The film, which has been called an African Schindler's List, documents Rusesabagina's acts to save the lives of his family and more
than a thousand other refugees, by granting them shelter in the besieged
Hôtel des Mille Collines. Hotel Rwanda explores genocide, political corruption, and the repercussions of violence.
The film was a co-production between United Artists and Lions Gate Films. It was commercially distributed by United Artists theatrically and by MGM Home Entertainment for home media. As an independent film, it had an initial limited release
in theaters; but it was nominated for multiple awards, including
Academy Award nominations for Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress, and
Best Original Screenplay. The film also won a number of awards including
those from the Berlin and Toronto International Film Festivals. On January 11, 2005, the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack was released by the Commotion label. It features songs written by several recording artists including Wyclef Jean and Deborah Cox. The film score was composed by Rupert Gregson-Williams, Andrea Guerra, and the Afro Celt Sound System. Hotel Rwanda premiered in theaters in limited release in the
United States on December 22, 2004 and in wide release on February 4,
2005 grossing $23,530,892 in domestic ticket sales. Becoming a moderate
financial success, the film received critical praise before its initial
screening in cinemas. The widescreen DVD edition of the film featuring
the director's audio commentary among others, was released in the United
States on April 12, 2005.

Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak or QSQT is a 1988 Indian Bollywood romantic drama film written by Nasir Hussain and directed by his son Mansoor Khan. The film starred Hussain's nephew, Aamir Khan, along with Juhi Chawla
in their first major roles. Upon release, the film became a box office
hit and shot its leading stars to fame overnight. The film was also the
first major hit for the music-director duo of Anand-Milind and singers Udit Narayan. It was also singer Alka Yagnik's first complete album . Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak's music, romantic storyline,
and young actors shifted the momentum away from the violent and aging
ethos that were prevalent in the films at the time. It also made
melodious tunes once again popular over the 80's trend of disco and
breakdance influenced soundtracks. Indiatimes Movies ranks the movie amongst the Top 25 Must See Bollywood Films.
3 Idiots is a 2009 Indiancomedy film directed by Rajkumar Hirani, with a screenplay by Abhijat Joshi, and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. It was loosely adapted from the novel Five Point Someone by Chetan Bhagat. 3 Idiots stars Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, R. Madhavan, Sharman Joshi, Omi Vaidya, Parikshit Sahni and Boman Irani.
Upon release, the film broke all opening box office records in India.
It was the highest-grossing film in its opening weekend in India and
had the highest opening day collections for a Bollywood
film. It also had the record for highest net collections in the first
week for a Bollywood film. Within 10 days of its release, the film
crossed the 100 crore (US$18.1 million)
mark in India and became the first film of 2009 to do so. The film also
created a new box office record for a release in the last quarter of a
year (October to December), breaking the previous record set by Ghajini.
It is also the highest-grossing film to be released in the second half
of the year (July to December), breaking the previous record also held
by Ghajini. 3 Idiots has become the highest-grossing Bollywood film of all time in India, breaking the previous record set by Ghajini which also starred Aamir Khan. It also became one of the few Indian films to become a major success in East Asian markets such as China, eventually bringing its overseas total to US $23.9 million—the highest-grossing Bollywood film of all time in overseas markets. It was expected to be the first Indian film to be officially released on YouTube, within 12 weeks of releasing in theaters on 25 March 2010, but finally got officially released on YouTube in May 2012. The film also went on to win many awards, winning six Filmfare Awards including best film and best director, ten Star Screen Awards and sixteen IIFA awards.
The film also uses real inventions by little known people in India's
backyards. The brains behind the innovations were Remya Jose, a student
from Kerala, who created the exercise-bicycle/washing-machine, Mohammad
Idris, a barber from Meerut district in Uttar Pradesh, who invented a
bicycle-powered horse clipper, and Jahangir Painter, a painter from
Maharashtra, who made the scooter-powered flour mill. This film was remade in Tamil as Nanban, by S. Shankar, which was released in January 2012. It has also been announced that there will be a Chinese remake of the film produced by Stephen Chow and that there are plans for a Hollywood remake produced in the United States.
